Global warming and its consequences for humans is one of the greatest threats of our time. If active action is not taken in the next few years, the consequences to ourselves, our children and our grandchildren will be severe.
However, global warming also offers a wide range of opportunities. The problem can only be solved via a new cooperation between the countries of the world; a cooperation that for several other reasons also needs to be strengthened. By freeing ourselves from our dependence on oil, gas and coal, we help not only the climate but also safeguard our health, economy and security in the decades to come.
An intense debate on the existence and cause of global warming is often going on in the public domain. In this debate, CONCITO refers to scientific papers and findings and uses the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) with its more than 2,000 researchers as the authoritative and independent source of information on global warming. According to the most recent statement, 98 % of all scientific papers published states that global warming is a fact and that it is man-made. Thus, the development can also be reversed by man, which is the promising perspective of the challenges we are facing for the years to come.
